What is a Personal Account?

Many of you will already be familiar with the "Save Search" facility available in all Ovid databases (accessible via the links on the toolbar to on the left of your screen, or the Clinicians Health Channel). This is an extremely helpful tool which allows users to save any search conducted and come back to it at a later date, or receive regular emails containing new citations which match a saved search criteria.

All searches saved by RMH Library users and RMH staff were previously stored in a shared file, and were therefore visible to anyone logging in with the Royal Melbourne Hospital UserID. THIS HAS CHANGED.

Ovid has a new feature called "Personal Accounts" which enables all Ovid users to set up their own secure account in which to save their search strategies. This account will be accessible from any Ovid database, and can only be accessed by the individual who set up the account. Any saved searches are kept in your own file and are not visible to any other RMH Library users.

This has consequences for anybody who had any saved searches via the Clinicians Health Channel UserID, or via Library Barcode login. You will need to set up a Personal Account and re-save any searches you previously accessed via the shared method. If you did not re-save your searches before this date, contact the Library to retrieve them to a new Personal Account.

NOTE: access to the databases themselves is not affected by this change. Login to Ovid is still via the links on RMH eResource Page.
